Privacy notice

Last updated 13 October 2026

The short version

  • We only collect what we need to quote, build, deliver and support your PC, and to protect against fraud.
  • We never sell your information, and we don't send marketing unless you ask for it.
  • If we check your ID, we delete the copy once the check is done.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time.

Who we are

Speyside Custom PCs LTD (company number SC905666), 175 Kingsmills, Elgin, IV30 4BT, is responsible for your personal information. Contact us about anything in this notice at [email protected].

What we collect

  • When you ask for a spec: your name, email address, WhatsApp number if you give it, and what you tell us about your budget, games, preferences and any build you put together on our site.
  • When you order: your billing and delivery address, phone number, order details, and payment records (we see the payer's name and the amount; we never see or store full card numbers).
  • Identity checks: for larger orders, or where something looks wrong, a copy of photo ID and proof of address (see "Fraud prevention" below).
  • Support: messages, photos and videos you send us about your PC, and our records of its condition, serial numbers and test results.
  • Technical: a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address when you use our form, to block spam. Our hosting and security provider also processes basic connection details to keep the site secure.

Fraud prevention

To protect genuine customers and ourselves, we may check that the person paying is who they say they are, for example by asking for photo ID and proof of address. We use the copy only to make the check. We delete it within 30 days of the check, keeping only a note that the check was done and its outcome.

If we suspect fraud, a false claim or a payment dispute, we may share relevant information (such as order details, messages, delivery records, photos and serial numbers) with our bank, payment providers, couriers, and the police, including Police Scotland or Action Fraud.

Who we share it with

We only share what each service needs to do its job:

  • Cloudflare: website security and delivery, and forwarding email sent to our address.
  • Brevo: sending emails from our website, such as your request confirmation.
  • Google (Gmail): our email inbox.
  • WhatsApp (Meta): if you choose to contact us that way.
  • Our bank and payment providers: to take payments and issue refunds.
  • Couriers: your name, address and phone number, to deliver or collect your PC.
  • Parts retailers and manufacturers: only what's needed for warranty claims, and a delivery address only if a part is sent directly to you.
  • Our accountant, and HMRC: for tax and legal requirements.

We never sell your information or share it for anyone else's marketing.

International transfers

Some of these providers (such as Cloudflare, Google and Meta) may process information outside the UK. Where they do, they use protections recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK–US data bridge or approved contract terms.

How long we keep it

  • Spec requests that don't turn into an order: deleted within 12 months.
  • ID copies: deleted within 30 days of the check.
  • Orders, invoices and payment records: 6 years, as required for tax.
  • Build photos, serial numbers and test results: 6 years, to support warranty claims and resolve disputes.
  • Email and message history: up to 6 years after your last order.

Cookies and embedded content

Our website uses a single essential cookie that keeps the request form secure. We don't use tracking or advertising cookies. Our web fonts load from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google. If we show TikTok or Instagram videos, those services may set their own cookies when you play them.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the information we hold about you
  • correct anything that's wrong
  • delete your information (unless we must keep it, for example for tax or an open warranty claim or dispute)
  • stop or limit how we use it, or object to our use of it
  • give you your information in a format you can take elsewhere

Email [email protected]. We'll reply within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to sort it out first.
